C. Dulaney has really come into the meat and potatos of this story and the ending portends more to come - which suits me just fine. Kasey and the gang, who survived the end of the first book, have taken on a mission to track down the raiders who killed their friends and neighbors - no matter what. The Plan has gone by the wayside as Murphy raises his ugly visage and twists the Plan to shreds. The adaptability of the characters to the changes that come, along with the losses, really has these folks gaining more life as you read along. The story does grip you, as most really good tales do, and you will find yourself staring at the last page wondering where's the rest of it. I have it on good authority that there is a third book in the works and wending it's way through the publishing process - which makes me happy as I'm not done with reading about these "kids with a Plan" yet.The story has progressed and matured with the author and I only had some minor quibbles with some of the weapons action, being an obsessive-compulsive gun geek. Hopefully those sorts of errors will be wander off and die in any future work by the authoress. Others may find other things but I think she has written a bang up story full of action, gore and those odd moments of sheer terror which really make this book bang along.
I highly recommend this book as an addition to your horror collection.

Murphy Law Roads Less Traveled Book 2 C Dulaney 9781618680341 Books Reviews
I really enjoyed the second book in this series. Fast pace kept things moving along and at this point I am completely invested in this group of survivors trying to stay alive in the increasingly dangerous world the author has created. I love that the author doesn't get bogged down in the details - gives you enough but keeps the trivial stuff to a minimum. I've made the mistake of reading some highly rated YA post apocalypse/zombie books and I can't help rolling my eyes at the pages and pages wasted describing so and so's hair, body, arched eyebrows, outfits...well u get the idea. None of that here! Can't wait for the next one.
Murphy's Law (Roads Less Traveled Book 2) by C. Dulaney was a great follow-up to Roads Less Traveled The Plan. Just as the first book was divided into parts, so was the sequel. The best part is that the author included far more zombie action, including a brutal carnage scene that had me wondering if there would be any characters left to write a third book in this series.
Kasey, the young woman with the "Z-plan," has grown up quite a bit since the first story. She faced tremendous losses, mainly due to the problems caused by Kyra, another survivor whom I am sure was hated by many readers...and Kasey has finally exceeded her crap tolerance level.
The POV is mainly Kasey's, with brief perspectives from members of Kasey's group, as well as Kyra - now a prisoner of some escaped convicts. The group decided to pursue the convicts, although the survivors have different reasons for hunting the cons down. While en route, Kasey and her friends make some startling discoveries about the undead, which had me screaming, "Game over, man!"
A few more characters were introduced into the series (from a third group), but it wasn't difficult keeping track of who was who, and a few well-placed flashbacks helped me remember what exactly had happened in The Plan. Even though Dulaney continues to place emphasis on the relationships of the survivors (which nearly tore my heart out), there is no lack of gore in this sequel.
Thankfully, there is no cliff-hanger, but the ending definitely hints at what is sure to be a thrilling third installment.
MURPHY'S LAW is everything a middle book should be, and C Dulaney knows what buttons to push. The danger is deeper, the crazy gets crazier, and the zombies get... interesting.
I particularly enjoyed that she changed up the zombie flavors without explanation. Who gives a shit why, right? One thing that kills the ZPAW for me is the incessant explanations. Everyone who writes these things (present company included) wants people to know the why's and wherefore's. Well, CD doesn't, and she's good enough that you'll keep reading anyway. Or maybe there's some explanations in the next book?
The only gripe I have is the smart guy only has that one window to show off and that's it. Clearly, he's been thinking about it.
Other than that, bravo! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!?
The first book in this series was a decent enough book and showed promise, enough so that I purchased this one. Unfortunately, the promise wasn't realized here. This book suffers a fatal flaw shared by many others in the genre, the characters just don't get any smarter about living in a zombie apocalyptic world. That is, in order for the author's plot points and action scenes to occur, the protagonists are forced to do really stupid things, over and over. In a book set in the immediate aftermath of a zompocalypse, this is fine and expected, after all, very few people would know how to react in the beginning. However, months later, people that didn't learn would be long dead, walking or otherwise. Herein fails this tale.
Further, the inconsistent behaviors and mindsets of the protagonists are also a bit much to overlook. For example, *MINOR SPOILER* at one point the main heroine is furious that one of her group is willing to execute a person that did very real and direct harm to them in the past. She carries out an inner monologue where she reasons that they can't be both jury and judge and must remain civilized and moral in their actions. Then, just a very few pages later, she is seriously planning to put a bullet into the brain of someone that, at that point, has done them no direct harm, or anyone else that she knows about, mainly because she just doesn't like the person and the way they behave. So, I can only recommend a pass on this one, unless you where just a huge fan of the first.
