Yeah editing!! I really enjoyed the first book in the series but as the author had stated, he couldn't spell to save his life and that unfortunately was a true statement. After my review of that book, Mr Mountjoy replied that he was going to get an editor for the next book in the series and he did - I would have read and enjoyed this book anyways but it made it a lot easier to read so thanks for that!

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST BOOK: If you haven't purchased the first in the series, please STOP, go get it and read it!! You won't regret it. Once you finish it, THEN come back and read this review because I don't want to ruin anything for you...

In the first book, The Seeker team had been part of a time travel experiment where they were sent three years into the future by the military. It was only suppose to be for a short amount of time and then they would return right back to the base where they started. Unfortunately, during their "little trip", the zombie apocalypse happened. Through many trials and tribulations, they made it to Colorado to NORAD and met up with "Honcho" (the lead of the project) along with the President and other scientists and members from the time travel project team.

In this book, they have been given a mission - to go to North Korea, where the virus originated, to look for "Patient Zero" and other information regarding the virus. To do so, they will have to travel across land, over the sea, into the DMZ, through secret tunnels... you get the idea. One thing that bothered me at first is that parts of the mission seemed to be much easier to accomplish than I would have thought BUT after stewing on it awhile, it actually made sense because the place where the mission took place was the origin point of the virus and after all the retaliation by other governments, there wouldn't be much left standing to get in the way of getting to the target so it's all good. Hmmm... that statement is clear as mud but I can't clarify without spoiling a main part of the story line so you will have to read the book and see if you agree with me :-)

Along the way, they pick up a few new team mates and have all sorts of adventures - some with zombies, some without. This book is written in third person narrative so it doesn't have in depth character development as in you know what each person is thinking all of the time but it doesn't take away from the storyline. That is not something that I would normally say as I enjoy "first person" style writing but the style fits the author and the series.

There was an EXTREMELY interesting and original twist as to where the zombies come from - one that I haven't read before and that is a HUGE accomplishment considering there are only so many ways to explain their origins.

While I am not in the military, the writing seems very realistic to me in terms of how the characters interact and have grown from the first book. I also appreciate the fact that a lot of the military seems to have survived the apocalypse. I have never understood how all those trained soldiers could die off so quickly in most other books.

Mr Mountjoy has really grown as an author in this book. The writing flows much better, it is easier to understand who is talking, and overall, he seems more confident in his abilities to share his story.

Although this book has a distinct ending, the last few pages seem to lead into another adventure for Achilles and the rest of the Seeker team and I am impatiently waiting to see what happens next!

3 Years After Book 2 Mission North Korea G R Mountjoy Mo Happy Steven Pajek 9780615590981 Books Reviews

Mr. Mountjoy the second book was a lot better than the first for sure, when it came to the grammactical and punctuation errors. The only thing I would have to write negatively about is some of the story fell short or just cut off in the middle of a good part in the book, I would start painting this full picture of what was happening and it would just end...and that would be it and the team would be asleep or would jump to something different. But the overall story was awesome, it definetly kept me interested and most of the story painted that picture and flowed into the next part of the book, it kept my imagination running. I am a little sad that Little Brown had to die but it made the story more realistic, instead of the team being unstoppable and never taking any wounds or casualities. Along with that I liked how you eliborated more on the characters personalities and made them seem more like real people and in ways that I can relate. The sayings or "quips" that Big Brown had made me laugh out loud in parts of the book and could totally hear him saying them in person. The smart zombies were a great touch and could hopefully lead more into a different type of zombie for other stories to come, either within your book or could give ideas to other authors and their books. I am very pleased to have read this and to see the improvements you have made from book 1 to book 2 Gary. I cannot wait to see what happens to the Seeker element in future books and hope you stay motivated and keep writing this series. Great job!
If you do not buy this book, you are missing out on one of the greatest books in the Zombie/Survival Genre. Of course this is book # 2 in the series, so read Book# 1, 3 years after first. It is Outstanding work on your part Mr Mountjoy, and I thank you. I waited patiently for the sequel to 3 years after, and i was not disapointed. If you are like me, you read a book and can't wait for the next one in the series to be released. I have read around 50 books in this Genre, since buying my over a year ago, and I highly reccomend this book. As an Infantry Soldier for over 20 years, I thourouly enjoyed the military spin on this story. Keep up the great work and I hope that book 3 is not too far from being released.
I enjoyed the first book but there were some problems with the writing that a good editor could have fixed. Apparently, the author realized this and made up for it in the second. The narrative flows much better in the sequel and I was glad to see that. Mountjoy has alot of really good ideas and I think he is coming into his own as an author. That is always good to see and I am pulling for him.

Grab this book and give it a read. You'll find an interesting story that displays the evolution of a potentially great writer.
Gary I must say you have come a long way since your last book. This one flows and reads so much better than the first. I am not a spelling teacher but I did not see one grammatical error in the the entire book. I very much like these books and the characters really grow in this one. The relationships between these men really stands out in this one. The joking going on between them and the seriousness of their situation is really working towards them becoming an adhesive group. Even as they add new people or loose others. The military parts were very well done and really carried the book forward. There are many plot twists in this one that I did not expect and hope that you expand on in later books. The smart zombies were part of this. I don't want to give all the good stuff away but lets say there are some interesting things that happen to this Team. I really thought the idea of how the US is trying to regain parts of the US and Canada was an excellent idea and something that would make a good back drop to another book. If I had any complaints it would be that it seemed short, but that is because I read through it so quickly. I can't wait for the next one or however many more you can do. Thank you for an excellent read!!! Looking forward to seeing this Team kick some A$$ in the next installment.
