This is an intelligent and moving novel. What a sincere and courageous voice!
This is an entertaining, well written and insightful book about an exceptional person who gets caught up in a crazy academic scandal because his interests and behavior don't fit in with the dominant norms of his American college campus. Anyone who has ever felt themselves outside the mainstream or dismayed by college conformity or who just likes a good story will enjoy this book.
I loved this novel - the style, the plot, the truthfulness of it. It is both a thriller and a philosophical tale which taught me a lot - I could not wait to continue reading it! The author's irony about social moors and his dissection of interpersonal relations is truly fascinating and original. And Jason, his quirky, insightful, charming protagonist, stays with you long after the end.
A captivating story from a unique perspective. After the first few chapters, I was hooked and couldn't put it down until I had finished. It's not the typical story that you read about a student's experience in college and that was refreshing. It's a story that stays with you and makes you think about how our different approaches to life make all of our lives richer. Three cheers for true diversity! Looking forward to reading whatever the author has in store for us next.
This is a book I had a hard time putting down once I got started.
Aitsahalia succeeds in braiding together a gripping story of false accusations and eventual redemption with acute socio-psychological revelations about what it's like to be a student at an elite American college at this time. The main character is not just any brilliant Ivy Leaguer, but one who falls within the Aspergers band on the social-autistic spectrum. Being a self-sufficient, self-directed student at an institution where the great majority of fellow students are busy connecting on Twitter and Facebook and head over heels into intensely social extra curricular activities, is a challenge for sure.
This book provides a great way to tune into a population that is "slightly out of tune".
